Winterizing Your Soul

When the air turns crisp and the days grow short, we naturally seek warmth and rest. Yet winter invites more than physical preparation—it calls our hearts to slow down and draw near to God. Just as we ready our homes for the cold, we can ready our souls through Scripture.
Psalm 46 declares that God is our refuge and strength, our shelter in every storm. As the world winds down, His Word becomes our hearth, filling the silence with peace. When discouragement bites like frost, faith finds warmth in His promises.
Winter also reminds us of the value of waiting. Beneath resting fields, unseen roots grow deep. Isaiah 40:31 promises renewed strength for those who wait upon the Lord. In stillness, our faith takes root and matures.
As you winterize your home, let your spirit do the same. Close the drafts of worry with prayer. Clear away what no longer nourishes your faith. Let each act be an offering—“Lord, keep me close, and let Your Word be my fire.”
Let's do a 6 week winterizing
Scripture Reading Plan for Winter Renewal

Where do I seek shelter when life grows cold or uncertain?
How can I make God my true refuge in daily practice?
Week 2: Isaiah 40:27–31 – Renewal Through Waiting Reflection questions:
What does waiting on God look like for me this season?
In what areas of my life do I need to trust His timing more fully?
Week 3: John 15:1–11 – Abiding in Christ Reflection questions:
How connected am I to the True Vine in my daily walk?
What fruit is God cultivating in me during slower, quieter days?
Week 4: Philippians 4:4–9 – Peace Through Prayer Reflection questions:
What thoughts or worries do I need to release to God in prayer?
What practices help me hold onto peace when the world feels restless?
Week 5: Hebrews 10:19–25 – Encouragement in Fellowship Reflection questions:
How can I strengthen or encourage others in faith during the winter months?
In what ways can community help keep my faith vibrant despite the season’s stillness?
Week 6: Romans 8:31–39 – Confidence in God’s Love Reflection questions:
What truths in this passage reassure me of God’s steadfast love?
How can I live more confidently in that love, regardless of circumstance?
Take one passage each week. Read slowly. Pray through the words. Allow God’s presence to settle in your spirit; quiet, faithful, and full of promise.
